Dr. Won-Kyung Cho's holdings represent one of the world's largest private collections of traditional Korean art. The works selected for this catalogue and exhibition illustrate Korean art at its most characteristic. The refinement and formal symbolism of aristocratic arts typify the strict Confucian society that has evolved in Korea since the sixteenth century. The paintings and porcelains in the exhibit also reflect the dynamism and the search for harmony with nature that underlie Korean culture.\nKen Vos is Curator of the Japanese and Korean Department at the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden, the Netherlands. He publishes regularly on Korean art and religion as well as on the Museum's well-known Japanese collection. He is currently involved in planning the new permanent Korean and Japanese galleries at the museum.",
