    "description": "<p>EN</p>\n<p><em>Paper Money of Congo</em> describes the history of all notes issued by the Congo Free State (EIC) in 1896, those issued by the Bank of the Belgian Congo (BCB) from 1912 to 1952 and by the Bank of the Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi (BCCBRU) from 1952 until Congo's independence on 1 July 1960. On the basis of unpublished archive documents from Belgium and abroad, all issues are discussed in detail, with the exception of the banknotes issued during the Second World War, since the Bank moved its activities to London and L&eacute;opoldville, and documents from that period appear to have been lost.</p>\n<p>The valuations in the catalogue are based on auction results and retail prices from the period 2016-2022. The corpus of recorded notes and not the quantity printed for an issue is used as a guideline to asses the relative rarity/market value of date varieties. Aan de hand van ongepubliceerde archiefdocumenten uit binnen- en buitenland worden alle bankbiljetten uitvoerig besproken, met uitzondering van deze uitgegeven tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, aangezien de Bank toen haar activiteiten naar Londen en Leopoldstad had verplaatst, en de documenten uit die periode verloren lijken te zijn gegaan.</p>\n<p>De waardebepalingen in de catalogus zijn gebaseerd op veiling- en beursprijzen uit de periode 2016-2022. Het aantal geregistreerde biljetten en niet de hoeveelheid die voor een emissie is gedrukt, wordt gebruikt als richtlijn om de relatieve zeldzaamheid/marktwaarde van datum-vari&euml;teiten te bepalen.
